Fall and spring are my favorite seasons. After a long hot summer, I am so ready for the cooler weather and the changing leaves. I've been checking out the Fall Foliage Report and I think we will probably go over to Hot Springs to drive around in the Ouachita Mountains next month. Until then I wanted to add a touch of fall to my house. On the cover of the Better Homes and Gardens they have this picture of a gourd filled with flowers. I attempted to replicate this, but I'm afraid I didn't quite measure up to BHG
standards. We are also planting more mums and I want to make a gourd wreath. What are y'alls plans to welcome fall? I'll try and post pictures of our fall family fun, including Ladybug cheering in the Fall Fest parade, visiting the pumpkin patch, the corn maze and our trip to see the fall foliage.

Last Night's Storm

Hello all, As you may have heard our little town was hit by a tornado last night. It touched down about 1 1/2 miles (as the crow flies) from our house. That tornado also hit a trailer park and two neighborhoods in our area. Friends from church, including our pastor, and homeschool friends have had damage to their homes. The other storms that passed through last night and the ones going through today are bringing a lot a rain that we just don't need. Part of our neighborhood is under water and one road, 1/4 mile from our house, is under water (see picture below). My favorite husband drove into work, a trip that usually takes 20 minutes, took 1 12 hours this morning. He reported back to me that an area north of here is flooded and that part of the highway is closed in Little Rock. I haven't been out, and don't intend to go at this point, but when we do venture out I will try and post pictures.

Winter Weather
So last week in South Mississippi it snowed. I grew up in Mississippi and trust me snow is a big deal. The entire state has to stand still. I love that sort of snow. It just last for two or three days, every thing is covered, it’s beautiful, and then it's gone.
Friday we were under a winter weather advisory. It’s been in the 30’s and 40’s everyday for a while so I was hoping for snow that would stick for a couple of days. Did we get snow? No, we got sleet. Sleet ugh! That’s no fun. And yesterday it melted. The weatherman said it would be in the 50's and even the 60's, I think he needs to back to school. It's 38 degrees and overcast! Everything is wet and mucky! Where's my snow!?!
